6 Reasons to Hire a Real Estate Agent Now

It’s never too early to hire an agent. If you’ve even thought about buying real estate eventually --- even if you’re not ready to start the process anytime soon – you should have an agent. Here are six reasons why:

1. An agent makes a great sounding board

We’ve done this a few times, and you can benefit from our experience. We know what questions to ask that clients don’t consider until it’s too late. We know what problems clients worry about – and solutions they might not have considered. We can recommend areas to consider, specific buildings or neighborhoods, and areas to avoid.

2. We can answer your questions

If you’re spending time thinking about it, you might as well ask a professional. Did you know that one of my clients bought a house with $62 at closing? That I can and regularly do sell homes over the internet via FaceTime and Skype? A lot of things are possible, if you just ask.

3. We know about all of the available loan programs

Your bank will only tell you about the programs available at that bank. But an agent can understand your situation and connect you with multiple lenders that have programs and loan types to fit your specific needs.

4. We’ve got the scoop on the neighborhood

What do you need to know about the neighborhood, the building, or the real estate market? An agent will let you know. For instance, one of my clients was going to buy a condo but didn’t realize that behind a row of trees was a closed down power plant in the midst of a significant environmental cleanup. My client didn’t know – but I did.

5. We can help you avoid costly mistakes

We know the ins and outs of the negotiation process, and we can guide you all along the way. One tip: never tell an agent at an open house that you love a house and want it – they represent the seller’s interests, not yours!

6. We’re always in your corner

Buying a home is a big decision and can have stressful moments. We do this every day, so we can see those moments for what they are – a minor problem that is correctable. By building a relationship of trust with your agent, you’ll get the right advice at the right time.

Deep down, a good real estate agent enjoys helping people, loves developing strong relationships, and enjoys the work. So call early, call as often as you like, and don’t worry – we’re here to help.
